what is "Piliko"
The 'Piliko' team has been active since 2005 and officially became a non-profit company in 2011. 'Piliko' works to promote sustainable design, with a focus on the use of natural and recyclable materials (such as clay, reed, wood and straw), as well as the promotion and preservation of traditional building techniques. Its members are architects, civil engineers, building technicians, artists and designers. Over the years, 'Piliko' has been active in research, education and dissemination of knowledge through practical and theoretical workshops, accredited CPD programmes for professionals, exhibitions, conferences and lectures. Our first publication was the result of our 10th anniversary conference with examples of earth architecture from around the world. In recent years we have focused on working more with communities to enhance and advance local architecture and materials. 'Piliko' is a part of a wide international network of organizations such as Red proterra Iberoamerican network, CEDTerra (Casalincontrada/Chieti), Associazione Internazionale Città della Terra Cruda, IDMA instituto del medio ambiente (Santiago/Chile), Terra Migaki Design (Milano), and brings professional knowledge in Greece through a series of activities such as workshops and lectures.
